Hi,We decided to tell you more about our joint initiative with the For Our Children Foundation and the efforts of its Do Not Abandon Me! campaign to stop mothers from abandoning their children. The initiative takes place also with the financial support of NOVA TV.For Our Children Foundation is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that for 18 years now has been working for the support of families at risk of abandoning their children. In the last three years the organization has specialized in support for mothers who are ready to abandon their newborn baby as soon as it is born. Only for the last half year For Our Children Foundation has helped 78 newborn babies in the cities of Sofia and Plovdiv to stay with their mothers.The organization uses its own risk assessment methodology. When the social workers fear for the life and health of the newborn baby, they themselves recommend another childcare measure until the family acquires the necessary knowledge, skills and competences and adapts the settings for the baby.[caption id="attachment_49" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Open Lesson: Taking Care of a Baby in Mall Plovdiv"]Open Lesson: Taking Care of a Baby in Mall Plovdiv[/caption]We, at Chipolono, decided to support this programme in all possible ways because we consider that the family represents the best setting for the child. Our latest joint initiative was a demonstration for the to-be moms and dads in the Mall in the city of Plovdiv. Together we showed how to bathe and nourish the newborn, what care to take for its skin and how moms can take care of themselves in the first days following the baby delivery.We provided equipment for four rooms for the mom and the baby – two in Sofia and two in Plovdiv. Now, these rooms are equipped with high chairs and changing mats from Chipolino. We will soon share the latest news from our joint work.
