Hi,

Children who are fussy eaters are a challenge for their parents who try to come up with all kinds of strategies to stimulate their kids’ appetite. The eating challenges can be found in a lot of homes. Relax! Take it Easy! You should simply believe that with a bit of patience and lots of imagination, you can make your kid take in food enthusiastically.

Fastidious children like to choose their menu themselves as a statement of independence. Experts claim that children have innate mechanisms that help them choose the appropriate food for their diet. That’s why you would better involve children in food preparation. Then they will be curious to try out the dish you have prepared with their help.

You can make your kid take in food enthusiastically, if you prepare it in an original way. For instance, for breakfast you can offer your child a sandwich in the shape of a cat’s face. It is easy. All you need is a piece of bread, yellow cheese, salami, dill, green onions, olives and bean (see the photo)

And now, just a few tips to help you deal with your fussy eater at home and make sure that he or she gets good eating habits.

•    Use a routine during mealtimes. Have your child meals at the same time regularly. Do  not let the kids eat snacks in between courses because they will make them full shortly
•    Eating in front of the TV is also not recommended or letting the kids play on the computer as those activities are distracting
•    Mums and dads have to remain relaxed at the dinner table as well as on the topic of foods. If you’re uptight in relation to taking in food, the child may acquire bad food associations.

Stay tuned because Chipolino keeps on searching for further tips on the topic and will share them with you very soon. (to be continued)
