New Scientist magazine reported that the first baby in the world with three biological parents was born in Mexico. The baby boy was born half an year ago with the help of a new technique which combines the genetic material from three people. This allows parents with rare genetic mutations to have healthy babies. In this case the mother is suffering from a serious illness known as the Leigh syndrome and for that reason the couple from Jordan decided to rely on the revolutionary method.

The procedure is still prohibited in the United States so the team of American doctors performed the operation on foreign territory - in Mexico. There they removed the defective DNA material from the egg of the mother and transfer the remains of it into a doner egg which after that gets fertilized. Then the embryo is implanted in the mother.

The child was born on April 6, 2016 and so far shows no signs of disease.
